Putin praises bilateral relations with Turkey

President of Russia Vladimir Putin has extolled his country’s bilateral relations with Turkey, saying "Relations with Turkey is deepening and getting rich. Cooperation in regional and economic matter is rapidly increasing."

Russian leader Vladimir Putin, received Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu, Turkish Defence Secretary Hulusi Akar and head of the National Intelligence Organization (MIT) Hakan Fidan in Moscow, capital of Russia.

In the matter of Syria, the Russian leader hailed efforts by Russia and Turkey and said: "Also with the contribution Iran, the United Nations, the European Union and the United States, we have approached a solution in Syria matter."

In the meeting, Foreign Minister Cavusoglu sent Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s compliments to Putin, saying "We will be pleased to welcome you in Turkey soon. You have agreed to eat fish [with Erdogan] together in Istanbul."

Referring to the bilateral relations with Russia, Cavusoglu said: "Relations between Russia and Turkey make someone jealous. The preparations for the trilateral summit are continuing. Beside our bilateral relations, we consider that to strengthen cooperation in regional matters is important. This is very important for regional peace.”

Following Turkey downed of Russian warplane in 2015, tension between the two countries was strectched. By means of several contacts, the tension has dropped and got back on the rails.

It is clearly seen that the cooperation between Russia and Turkey is swiftly advancing in paralel with the meetings between Erdogan and Putin happening ever so often.
