Erdogan, Putin discuss US withdrawal from Iran nuclear deal

Turkish and Russian leader agree that US withdrawal from Iran nuclear deal is wrong

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan discussed US withdrawal from Iran nuclear deal on Thursday with his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin over phone.
Referring to the wrong decision of the US on nuclear deal with Iran, the two leaders underscored the deal was a diplomatic success that had to be preserved.
US President Donald Trump declared on Tuesday in the White House his country would withdraw from Iran nuclear deal and sanctions on Iran suspended in 2015 would be implemented.
Iran and five permanent members of the United Nations Security Council (US, UK, China, France and Russia) and also Germany made an agreement in July 2015 that came into effect in January 2016 on the control of Iran’s nuclear activities.
Erdogan and Putin, in addition, touched on escalation of tension in Syria in recent days.
Erdogan also congratulated the Russian leader on his inauguration held on May 7.
